For over 40 years, Pierre Metzger has scoured the stages of cities and villages in France as an illusionist. From galas to performances for the nascent television of the post-war period, his life has been devoted to spectacle.
His career as a magician had its source in a dark part of his existence during his deportation to Dachau when he was 18.
The film is built on the joyful assessment of a life, in the company of the old man and his wife who was also his partner, between his home and his old studio, but also during a return trip to the Dachau camp, where, in the barracks, he tried with a few magic tricks to make his companions forget the dire fate that was promised to them
