Figure humaine

About - Figure humaine

At the beginning, there is silence.
Then the gesture that gives form.
An arabesque gesture from which breath and song spring.
Here is the portrait of a woman, Laurence Equilbey.
She is a conductor. She directs the Accentus choir.
The a capella voice, naked and without a net.
Here is the musical gesture embodied,
here are bodies traversed by the experience of the works.
In balance.
Just above the abyss.

Cécile Patingre

Through my documentary films, I have always defended a critical and committed approach to the world.

Questioning the reality that surrounds us, highlighting its dysfunctions, taboos, injustices and sublimating it through the creative act is at the heart of my work.

I trained at Fémis, in the directing section. At the time, Fémis was still very fiction-oriented, but I very quickly joined the documentary genre. I had the chance to make my debut at the documentary magazine Strip-Tease. It was truly with the two genius producers of this show that I learned my trade.

I then made about twenty creative documentaries, many abroad, and musical films too. It is an author's point of view that I strive to impose in my practice, in my confrontations with the television world and the risk of artistic formatting.

In the interest of passing on my experience and raising awareness of this idea of the filmmaker as author, I run artistic education workshops in prison, hospital or psychiatric settings. Audiences whose access to Culture is, as they say, “prevented”.
