Second opus of the series "Etranges Affaires" written by Olivier L. Brunet and Patrick Pesnot
With subtitles in Spanish.
On May 4, 1982, an Exocet missile launched by a Super Etendard of the Argentine Navy sank a Royal Navy destroyer that had come to reconquer the Falkland Islands.
The Super Etendard-Exocet pair, manufactured by the French, will be the object of a secret war between the British and the Argentines. Sasha Maréchal and Patrick Pesnot will retrace this little-known facet of the Falklands War and investigate the ambiguous role played by France in this conflict.
This 52-minute hybrid documentary combines archives, testimonies and animation. Key witnesses in Argentina, the United Kingdom and France decipher the role of French weapons. From the attack on the destroyer Sheffield to Operation Plum-Duff led by British special forces, the film offers a new look at this affair which shook up relations between Margaret Thatcher and François Mitterrand.
