About - Animal Museum

The adventure of Strasbourg's zoological museum began in 1804 with Jean Hermann's natural history cabinet, in the tradition of Europe's cabinets of curiosities. The oldest collections date back to 1760, and every year researchers consult this scientific heritage, a veritable data bank that is a reference worldwide. The aim of this film is to restore the emotional memory of this magical place where the five senses become participative, to leave a trace of what we know and of the submerged and little-known part of the iceberg, and to question our own relationship with animals and their nature.

Philippe Poirier In 1986, Philippe Poirier helped found the rock band Kat Onoma, with whom he recorded five studio albums and several live albums. He has made a number of musical films, including Radioactivity, based on a Kraftwerk cover, 1995, and Kat Onoma, as its name suggests, 52′, 1996. In 1997, he created Instants composés, ten short musical tableaux based on Super 8 images, during a residency at the CICV in Montbéliard. This was to be the starting point for a solo production in which texts, music and images would build together in the form of albums (Qui donne les coups, 1998 / Automne Six, 2003 / Qu'est-ce qui m'a pris, 2004 / Les triangles allongés, 2011), concerts/projections with short Super 8 films, performances, ciné/concerts, film scores and documentaries (Kat Onoma, as its name suggests, 52′, 1996 / Protest song, 26′, 1999 / Caméra club, 26′, 2000 / Vibrations composées, 26′, 2002 / Animal muséum, 52′, 2005 / Trait pour trait, Tomi Ungerer, 26′, 2007 / Zuber & Cox, impressions panoramiques, 26', 2010). Since 2004, he has run a drawing class at the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs in Strasbourg.
