Portrait of photographer Jean Rault by Maria Pinto This is the story of a photographer in search of an image of the feminine. In Evreux and Osaka, the film shows the artistic and passionate quest of artist Jean Rault, from reality to fiction, from one genre to another, from Bovary to Butterfly, against his models.
Maria Pinto “Passionate about art and literature, my academic career lies somewhere between these two poles, as I studied Modern Literature at the University of Rouen, Fine Arts at Paris VII and then at the Rouen School of Fine Arts. During the ten years I spent working exclusively as a visual artist, I took part in a number of exhibitions, and it was this multidisciplinary approach that led me to documentary filmmaking. I've also worked as a translator from Portuguese and Spanish of poetic works and critical texts on artists for exhibition catalogs, as a journalist and photographer. I've also taught art history and run various art workshops.
