About - Un piranha sous la capuche
Maïza is a 28-year-old "piranha" (the title of one of his songs). He's a guy who wants to devour the French rap scene raw.
For 12 years, he's been roaming small concert halls and amateur recording studios looking for the hit that will propel him and bring him out of anonymity. Maïza has talent. He knows he doesn't have much time left if he wants to succeed. With the help of a Mulhouse group, he starts recording his first real album. The pressure is terrible, he knows it's his last chance.
The film will look back at Maïza's career and will shine a spotlight on his current work: recording the album of the "last" chance to finally reach the limelight. This is an opportunity to delve behind the scenes of regional rap music production, the kind without a label, made with bits of string away from the Parisian majors.
Director born in 1973, Zouhair Chebbale is the author of about fifteen documentary films, including It's Better There (TV5 Prize for Best Documentary, Ecrans Noirs Festival), BZ420 (Social Action Film Festival Prize), Un piranha sous la capuche (SCAM Star). He is currently preparing his first feature-length fiction film.
